Finding GroundEmotionally Navigating Divorce

Searching for answers without a map for what comes next can leave you feeling lost. Somatic work offers a sense of direction, even when the path itself remains uncertain.

Somatic & integrative therapy

Learning to listen inward.

Somatic and integrative work includes the whole of your experience: your thoughts and emotions, your body’s responses, the patterns you’ve developed, and what you notice in the present moment. Slowing things down creates space for a path forward to come into focus.

Somatic & Embodied

Learn to listen to and trust the wisdom of your body.

Integrative & Depth-Oriented

Recognize patterns that shape how you adapt, protect, and respond.

Rooted & Real

Trust the pace of what is unfolding without rushing what comes next.

A Word From Ashley

On being seen, heard, and understood.

Claiming My Own Ground

Ashley Jack at Portola Town Center in Portola Valley, California

I want to know what is underneath.

Why we become who we become. Why we stay when something in us wants to leave. How we can know something without trusting what we know. How the body tells the truth long before we have words for it. And what happens when the identities we have built our lives around begin to crumble.

I have lived through the highs and lows of chronic illness, sexual trauma, emotional abuse, motherhood and stepparenting, divorce, perimenopause, and the loss and rebuilding of community. I have also lived in seven countries and three states, starting over enough times that I became remarkably good at adapting. I could read a room, understand what was expected of me, figure out what needed to be done, and keep moving. That ability served me incredibly well. But it also stole my voice and rendered me invisible.

The experiences of my life have made me less interested in tidy stories about overcoming adversity and much more interested in the messy middle, the exciting and anxious space where we don't know how the story ends or where the next step will lead.

I find myself returning again and again to myth, poetry, psychology, spirituality, and the body as different ways of understanding that entangled space. I love stories of descent and return, death and rebirth, the feminine, the shadow, and the parts of ourselves we have been taught to hide without even realizing we are hiding them. Often a myth can tell the truth about an experience better than an explanation ever could. Sometimes it is movement, a piece of writing, clay in my hands, or a vulnerable conversation with another woman that brings me closer to the feeling of what is real.

My education has given me language for so much of what I had already lived. Through psychology and somatic study, I began to recognize things I had never known how to name. I could see how quickly I read another person's nervous system and changed myself in response. How often I tried to settle the people around me, not for them, but so I could feel safe. How easily I could understand something intellectually when my body was telling an entirely different story. I began noticing the places I tightened, went quiet, made myself smaller, or moved straight into figuring out what to do instead of staying with what I felt.

That has made me deeply interested, and genuinely appalled, by the distance between who we are and who we learned to be.

Vulnerability has become important to me because it asks something different. It asks me to stay when I would rather protect myself, to let myself be seen before I have figured everything out, and to risk telling the truth without knowing how it will be received. I don't always do that well. But I have come to value the relationships where I can.

These days, I care a lot less about performing the right version of myself. I am learning to take up space in my own life, to trust what I know, say what I mean, and let what I want matter.

I care about truth. I care about being able to change my mind. I care about living in a body that is changing without treating that change as a failure. I care about relationships where I can remain myself and truly belong. And I care deeply about community, especially spaces between women where we can stop pretending we have it all together, risk being vulnerable, and actually know one another.

I don't think there is a finished version of me waiting at the end of this. I am still learning, questioning, shedding old stories, and discovering what feels true. I want to be surrounded by women willing to do the same. There is something powerful about finding our own way, together.

When your life no longer fits.

Somatic Therapy for Women in Midlife Transition

Sometimes change chooses you. Sometimes you choose it. And sometimes you simply reach the point where you can't keep pushing through.

Divorce may be the doorway. So may midlife, a changing body, illness, a relationship, or a role that no longer fits. Whatever brings you here, the questions underneath are often the same:

What do I actually want?

Who am I outside of the roles I've lived?

Can I trust myself?

What brought you here matters. But what comes next is about you.

What sessions are like

Listening to the mind and the body.

My approach is both somatic and integrative. Somatic means paying attention to the body and what it may be communicating. Integrative means making room for the whole of your experience, rather than treating any one part of you in isolation.

Sessions weave together conversation, reflection, body awareness, and experiential practices. We might explore your thoughts and emotions, notice what is happening in your body, or become curious about the patterns and experiences shaping how you move through your life.

The intention isn't to privilege the body over the mind, but to listen to both, allowing each to offer information the other may not. From there, we stay curious about what emerges, including the places that may be uncomfortable, resistant, or asking for something to change.

You do not have to perform being okay here. It's okay not to be okay.
